Leather and Suede Handbag Care Guide

We love our bags, and we know you do too!

When your crossbody handbag becomes your go-to accessory, protecting it is paramount. Alongside our Care Guide, we've highlighted some top tips to help your Pom Pom London bag stay pristine!

Leather

As leather is a natural material, following these simple care instructions will extend the life of your Pom Pom London product.
  1. Gentle Cleaning: Use a slightly damp cloth to gently wipe away small marks or dirt. Avoid excessive water as it can stain leather.

  2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Refrain from using chemical products, as they can damage both the leather and hardware. Opt for specialised leather cleaners if necessary.

  3. Storage: When not in use, store your handbag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and moisture damage. We send each of our bags in a handy dust bag; this will add another layer of protection!

  4. Conditioning: Regularly apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and supple. This helps prevent cracking and maintains its natural beauty.

  5. Handle with Care: Be mindful of sharp objects that could scratch or puncture the leather surface. Treat your handbag gently to maintain its pristine condition.

By following these simple care tips, you can ensure your Pom Pom London leather handbag looks fabulous for years to come!

Suede

Much like with leather, the better you care for it, the longer it will last.

Suede is a type of leather with a unique look and feel, which can make it more challenging to maintain. It is susceptible to scuffing, scratching, and water damage so taking extra care of it is important. That's why we send it wrapped in tissue paper and slipped into a PPL dust bag.

We recommend regularly spraying the suede with a protector that resists water penetration and guards against stains. To remove surface dirt, use a fine brush or sponge.

Caution: Due to the dyeing process, there may be some colour transfer from the suede onto light-coloured clothing.

Both leather and suede products should be stored in their dust bags, away from direct sunlight and heat such as radiators. A cool, dry place is ideal.
