PPL’s Ins & Outs for 2025

If yours has resembled anything like ours, 2024 was a bit of a whirlwind year! Musing over the good and possibly not-so-good, we are eager to streamline our lives this year to boost enjoyment in every way possible! Rather than giving yourself a list of resolutions, another way to achieve this is by reflecting on the past year, on how you can reduce decision fatigue and eliminate unnecessary distractions. Now, we know we all just want to sit back and ease into the working week; but how good will it feel to take January by the horns with a clear plan of action? Well, we’re here to help you get there.

Instead of making a list of resolutions that you may or may not keep, we think creating an ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ list can be a much more gentle and sustainable way to approach lifestyle changes. Here’s ours..

Out: Owning Things That We Don’t Actually Like

You’re definitely not alone if, at some point in your life, you’ve been frantically searching through your wardrobe and screaming: why do I have nothing to wear?! Realistically, you know you probably have too many clothes, but somehow not enough items that pair well together. Adding premium quality, versatile pieces will elevate a wardrobe like nothing else. Not to mention: will save you precious time getting ready!

In: Regular Wardrobe Clearouts

A good place to start this is to have a big clearout (trust us, we know it’s hard!) and make a pile of items that you haven’t worn for a while, you don’t really like anymore, or that don't fit you. Then give them to family, friends or donate them. Now, you will have a clean slate and be able to take note of which things you actually feel good in. Reducing the little variables and decisions we make every single day might feel like a small change, but we guarantee it will feel radical.

Out: Being Too Influenced by Trends

In 2025 we are determined to ditch the impulse buys, not just because it’s better for our bank balance, but because we know that these are not long term investments for ourselves. The temporary pick-me-up from the new item quickly wears off and in the end.. you are left with something that is not reflective of your current style, the style you want in the future, or made from high quality material. This often happens when there is a passing trend that we get caught up in and is nothing to be ashamed of, but if we want to curate a wardrobe that feels really authentic, we need to start noticing what we really value and change our habits.

In: Curating a Wardrobe That You Love

Undeniably, a huge part of our lives is consumed with getting dressed everyday. That’s where the beauty of a capsule wardrobe is revealed. Getting to know what your true personal style is, which colours can be repurposed or work with different palettes and being more considerate when you’re making purchases can all go a long way. Our suggestion is to practice more intentional shopping, and choosing items that have versatility to be paired with different outfits.

Each year, we learn, we grow, and our style gradually adapts with us too. There is no better time than in the excitement of the new year, with all your plans ahead, to rethink and simplify your wardrobe. It’s an opportunity to embrace the new ‘you’ and help you step into the mindset that you want in the next year.

Out: Buying Items Made of Low-Quality Fabric

The world of online shopping has exploded in the last decade. It has never been easier than today to do shopping hauls on a whim. All it takes is one good payday, a little mood, or a cute new trend popping up on social media and you’re off. The only thing is, there will always be more trends, every season, every year, and don’t even get us started on the micro trends!

They phase out as fast as they come in. What is concerning, is that the cheap fabric these items are made from are incredibly low-quality, synthetic material, that’s often plastic - which is the worst kind of fabric to produce for the environment and wears down far too quickly.

In: Investing In High-Quality, Long-Lasting Items

Looking at how much we pay vs the amount of wear we realistically get out of a product really puts things into perspective, especially when you consider how swiftly some of these items lose their shape. We want to invest in pieces that have a much longer lifespan that will outlast the seasons. Thankfully, in recent years, there are more and more brands who are refusing to compromise on quality and offering affordable luxury - we know that these are the ones we want to support.

We have committed ourselves to leaving this planet in a better state than when we arrived. Part of this goal is ensuring all our orders are delivered Carbon Neutral, all our packaging is fully recyclable and for our international deliveries, we are part of DHL's Go Green initiative.

Out: Styling For Anyone But Us

It is much easier to absorb the preferences of everyone around you or on social media, but this will only lead you to stare at your clothes in confusion, not really liking any of them after a couple of seasons, and a severe lack of good outfit combinations. No, we don’t want that.

In: Styling For Ourselves

Here at PPL we know how vital it is to look and feel more confident in your clothes. Feeling as though your style is aligned with your true self is the key. On the other hand, dressing in something that is a bit different can be a great outlet for self expression and can help you to shift your mindset and step into the new you.

Personalising your bags by changing your strap is the easiest way to increase its versatility and match it with a wider palette. Being more adventurous with colours, experimenting by pairing items you love with an outfit you wouldn’t normally put together and exploring with items you’ve wanted to freshen up; are all great ways to give you more wear out of your clothes.

An item that is able to be matched to most of your wardrobe provides much more value, as you have more opportunity to actually wear it! Even better; if you make use of the BankBundle and choose a strap that is suited for daytime and another that will make the bag dressier for evening wear - then you also have the matching leather strap that can be used for both!

Whether you are writing a ten page list of resolutions or have decided to not make any this year, we think these four areas provide a good middle ground to start on, that will lead you into 2025 feeling more confident than ever. Gradually building up your wardrobe with fine quality basics you can layer will transform your everyday life. There is no benefit to buying an accessory to only ditch it the next year because it’s worn out or part of an outdated trend.

The classic, timeless design of our bags will never go out of style. Luxury is just as important to us as practicality, and we believe everyone deserves quality, affordable products that can be personalised to individual taste. Handcrafted from full-grain leather, our crossbody’s can be styled as a handbag or over the shoulder, creating maximum versatility in your wardrobe.

Are you ready to start investing in a wardrobe that will last longer than next season?
